Vicky is the current-series Hiace GL — a 2021 build with the modern safety kit, a quiet 2.8L diesel automatic, and the legroom a newer body gives you. On a two-week WA loop, the difference between an older van and a near-new one is felt every single driving hour.
Underneath, it's the same gas-free philosophy: 300Ah lithium, a 3000W inverter, induction cooking and a fridge that never needs a powered site. You're not paying more for capability — you're paying for the newest, smoothest vehicle to put it in.

Q.01 What makes Vicky the newest van in the fleet?
It's a current-series Toyota Hiace GL, 2021, super-long-wheelbase, 2.8L diesel automatic — the most modern base vehicle here. New body, new safety gear (reverse camera, front and rear sensors), and a premium 150mm Dunlop mattress. If a near-new drive matters to you, this is the one.
Q.02 How many does it sleep?
Four adults inside, with four seats and seatbelts and genuine legroom. There's ample storage including space for a full-sized surfboard or a baby stroller under the bed. An optional swag is available to hire for extra outdoor sleeping space, with an electric rooftop tent planned down the track.
Q.03 Is it really gas-free and off-grid?
Yes. Zero gas bottles. A 300Ah lithium battery with a battery-management system and a 3000W inverter run the induction cooktop, microwave, kettle, air fryer and toastie maker — roughly 3+ hours of continuous cooking. Two fixed roof solar panels plus a DC-DC charger top it up while parked and while driving, so you never need a powered site.
Q.04 What's the kitchen and shower setup?
A rear pull-out kitchen with a fold-out table, cutlery and crockery for four, a 12V 60L fridge, and the full 240V appliance set. Outside there's a 180° free-standing awning and a 42L pressurised cold-water shower — around 25 minutes of shower water for a post-beach rinse.
Q.05 What does the daily rate include, and what's extra?
From $180/day with a 3-day minimum (varies by date, up to 14 on some periods). The WA National Parks Pass is on the vehicle, comprehensive insurance and bond run per Camplify standards, and 200 km/day is included, averaged across the hire with no daily cap. Bedding and towels are an optional extra. No exterior cleaning at return — just tidy the inside.

Pickup and return are near Perth Airport, with flexible times. Sealed roads only — up to about 5km of good-condition gravel to a campsite (max 60km/h), with pre-approval needed for longer unsealed sections. No beach or soft-sand driving, and it doesn't go past Cape Le Grand on the Merivale Rd gravel. No one-way hires.
