Honest framing: this is a rooftop-tent 4WD, so there's a quick nightly setup (about 30 seconds, per renters) — the trade for genuine gravel access and a Starlink-connected basecamp. Want zero setup for two? The Voyager campervan runs the same power philosophy with a fixed bed.
Travel further. Stay connected.
A 2024 Musso with enhanced suspension opens up the well-graded gravel access roads a 2WD has to skip — the campsites past the bitumen, the Lucky Bay and Wharton beach drives. It's a real 4WD, set up by someone who's driven these routes, not a fleet bought in bulk.
Then there's the Starlink. High-speed internet from a remote beach changes who can take this trip — remote workers, longer escapes, people who can't fully unplug. 300Ah of power and a 30-second rooftop tent mean you set up once and stay as long as the view holds.
This one, or the rebuild?
- THIS ONE · FROM $150/DAY
Offgrid Wanderer
The original 2024 Musso. Queen rooftop tent, 270° awning, 300Ah / 3000W, and a 22L portable pressure camp shower. Roof Starlink on this build — the connected basecamp at the lower daily rate.
Pick this if: you want Starlink and the lower rate, and a portable shower is plenty.
- THE REBUILD · FROM $160/DAY
Wanderer 2.0
The upgrade: a bigger rooftop tent, an integrated 100L water tank with a plumbed on-board camp shower instead of the portable unit, and a larger inverter. Built for the longest, most remote runs.
Pick 2.0 if: you want more on-board water and the bigger tent for long Coral Coast trips. See the Wanderer 2.0

A friend and I spent three weeks in the van and had an unreal experience! We travelled the coast from Perth to Wharton Bay and back, and it was perfect for it — cookware, awning, table and chairs, rain cover, toaster, everything we needed. The rooftop tent was super comfy and spacious, and everything was really easy to use. Dorian's briefing was really helpful and he was great to deal with throughout. Would definitely recommend.

We rented this for our trip from Perth to Exmouth and it was exactly what we needed. The vehicle was completely new, super clean and well looked after. It felt very reliable the whole way and was really easy to drive. Fully equipped for camping — rooftop tent, kitchen gear, storage — everything organised and ready to go. Dorian was super friendly and helpful at handover.

Great holiday. Dorian was very responsive to our questions. The vehicle is amazing and has all the necessities for a great camping trip in WA: fridge, induction cooking, device charging through the battery and solar, full cooking set, seats and a table. The 30-second rooftop tent is easy to set up and comfortable to sleep in. Modern to drive too — USB-C and Apple CarPlay. Would recommend to anyone.

Dorian built and configured the Wanderer himself.
This isn't a fleet bought in bulk from a supplier. Dorian has lived in Perth for over a decade and driven most of WA — the Wanderer's suspension, power system, rooftop tent and Starlink are configured from real trips, not a catalogue. He answers the phone, he hands you the keys, and he runs the briefing himself. Twelve percent of bookings are people coming back.

- REMOTE WORK + TRAVEL
You can't fully unplug
Roof Starlink up to 200 Mbps means you can take the longer trip and still work — file from a beach campsite, then close the laptop.
- CORAL COAST RUN
Perth → Kalbarri → Coral Bay → Exmouth
Exactly the trip past renters did. The Coral Coast all the way up — Kalbarri, Coral Bay, Exmouth and the Cape Range / Ningaloo sealed approaches. 300Ah power, 85L fridge, gravel access to campsites the 2WD vans can't reach.
- SOUTH-COAST BEACHES
Lucky Bay, Wharton, Esperance
The gentle beach drives are on the menu here — rooftop tent up, awning out, no powered site needed for a week.

The questions 4WD travellers ask first.
Q.01 Is there a daily setup, or is the bed fixed?
The Wanderer sleeps in a rooftop tent — so there is a setup, but it's quick: past renters describe it as a roughly 30-second job. It's a queen with a 15cm premium foam mattress, washable microfibre cover, and 12V + USB right in the tent. If you want zero nightly setup instead, the Voyager campervan has a fixed bed — different trip, same off-grid kit.
Q.02 How many people can it sleep?
The rooftop tent sleeps two adults comfortably — it's best as a couples vehicle. The dual cab seats five with baby-seat anchors, and for extra sleepers we can provide a large ground tent or swags on request. Tell us your group size before booking and we'll set it up right.
Q.03 Where can a 4WD like this actually go?
Sealed highways anywhere, plus up to 10km of well-maintained unsealed access to campsites at a max 60km/h — more gravel latitude than the 2WD campervans. Lucky Bay and Wharton Beach drives are okay. Popular runs: the Coral Coast (Kalbarri, Coral Bay, Exmouth, the Cape Range / Ningaloo sealed approaches) and the south-coast beaches (Lucky Bay, Esperance, Albany); Karijini is possible by request on certain dates. It does NOT go on the Gibb River Road, Canning Stock Route, Gunbarrel Highway, the Nyinggulu coastal reserve, sand dunes, river crossings, soft sand or corrugated routes — it's built for sealed-and-gravel touring, not hardcore off-roading.
Q.04 How long can it stay off-grid?
A long time. 300Ah lithium, a 200W rooftop solar panel and a 3000W inverter, charged by both the vehicle alternator while driving and solar while parked. That runs the 85L fridge-freezer, kettle, toaster and coffee machine for weeks of off-grid living without a powered site.
Q.05 Tell me about the Starlink and connectivity.
Equipped models carry a roof-mounted Starlink delivering high-speed internet (up to ~200 Mbps) even while moving — built for remote work from the road. There's also a 12-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Starlink data is billed separately from the hire; ask us to confirm Starlink is fitted on your dates.
Q.06 Price, pickup and what's included?
From $150/day, 3-day minimum. WA National Parks Pass on the vehicle, comprehensive insurance and roadside assistance, 200 km/day (excess $0.60/km). Sheets are free; a duvet/blankets pack is $25. Pickup and return are near Perth Airport with flexible times — Perth only, no one-way hires.
Fuel cost estimator
Roughly what you'll spend on fuel for a WA trip. Pick the camper, set the distance, drop in today's pump price. It's an estimate — real use depends on load, terrain, aircon, headwinds and how you drive.
Estimate only. Fleet averages: diesel ≈ 12.5 L/100km, petrol ≈ 14 L/100km — edit the L/100km if your route is heavy on gravel, hills or headwinds. Fuel is paid by you and is on top of the hire price and Camplify insurance.
