The honest version: Abi isn't the newest body in the fleet, and it's best for two with the swag for an occasional third or fourth. What it is, is the cheapest way to get a genuine 300Ah, gas-free, no-powered-site WA trip — and past renters keep rebooking it.
The trip costs the same. The van costs less.
Abi exists for the traveller who did the maths. The 300Ah lithium system, the induction kitchen, the 110L fridge and the no-powered-site freedom are identical to vans charging more per day. What you give up is a newer body and a bit of fit-out polish — not capability.
Past renters describe it as "pretty much glamping and so simple" and keep coming back. For a couple (or a couple plus the swag) doing the south coast for ten nights, it's the most trip you can buy per dollar in the fleet.
Real trips. Real reviews.

Could not recommend this van enough! We had an amazing 10 nights travelling the south coast. Absolutely everything you need is included. My partner's mum stayed in the van and the two of us slept in the double swag, which worked perfectly. Always available if we had any questions, and very welcoming. We'll definitely be hiring again for our next trip to WA!

Easy to deal with, good communication. “Abi” was a great van to get around WA — easy to stay off-grid and had everything we needed for our little getaway. I would definitely hire it again.

Friendly and great customer service — gave us everything we needed to know and more. The van is pretty much glamping and so simple. Would use again without hesitation, and probably will.

Listed by Johan, a long-time Offgrid partner host.
Offgrid Campers WA is owner-run by Dorian, who builds and hosts the Voyager and the Wanderer 4WDs himself. Abi is one of Johan's electric Hiace builds — a long-time partner host we list so you can compare the whole Perth campervan fleet in one place and pick on value, not just on what we own.
Johan handles the in-person handover and briefing for this van. It's booked and insured through Camplify, so payment, cover and the reviews above are all verified on-platform.

The questions value travellers ask first.
Q.01 Why is the Abi the budget pick?
It runs the same core off-grid setup as the pricier vans — 300Ah lithium, 1500W inverter, induction cooking, 110L fridge-freezer — at the fleet's entry daily rate. You're not paying for a newer body or extra fit-out you don't need, so more of the budget goes into the actual trip.
Q.02 How many people does it sleep?
A comfortable 203cm queen bed inside sleeps two with a roof fan directly above. With the double swag it works well for up to four — exactly how past renters travelled (one couple inside, one in the swag). It's at its best for couples and small groups who want value, not a four-bunk setup.
Q.03 Is it really 100% electric — no gas?
Yes, zero gas bottles. A 300Ah lithium bank and 1500W pure-sine inverter run the induction cooktop, kettle and other appliances. Two fixed roof solar panels plus a DC-DC charger keep it topped up while parked and while driving — roughly 3+ hours of continuous cooking or several days of normal use.
Q.04 What's the outdoor setup like?
A brand-new 180° awning that one person can set up in seconds, a 50L pressurised outdoor shower with a privacy awning for post-beach rinses, a rear pull-out kitchen with a fold-out table, and four camping chairs included. Plenty of under-bed storage for paddleboards and fishing gear.
Q.05 What does the daily rate include?
From $140/day with a 4-day minimum. The WA National Parks Pass is on the vehicle, comprehensive insurance and bond run per Camplify standards, and 200 km/day is included (averaged across the hire). No exterior cleaning needed at return — just tidy the inside.
Q.06 Where do I pick it up, and can I do a one-way?
Pickup and return are near Perth Airport, with flexible times. No one-way hires. Johan does the handover and briefing in person.
Fuel cost estimator
Roughly what you'll spend on fuel for a WA trip. Pick the camper, set the distance, drop in today's pump price. It's an estimate — real use depends on load, terrain, aircon, headwinds and how you drive.
Estimate only. Fleet averages: diesel ≈ 12.5 L/100km, petrol ≈ 14 L/100km — edit the L/100km if your route is heavy on gravel, hills or headwinds. Fuel is paid by you and is on top of the hire price and Camplify insurance.
